Throughout my career as an artist I have found myself exploring multiple mediums. I started working in ceramics in high school. In college I found my love for different mediums within sculpture: wood, clay, metal, and more. I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Visual Arts (concentration in sculpture), Women’s Studies Minor, and Psychology Minor. After graduating, I found myself lacking resources to continue to make large sculptures so I traded in my 3-D interest for printmaking, a 2-D art form. This led me to become a self-taught screenprinter, focusing on my brand, SFVA (Sarah Florez Visual Arts). Presently I am exploring the medium of painting and concepts tied with murals and public art.

In exploring and creating art in different mediums, I am exploring myself and expanding my ability. I find myself taking all opportunities that come my way with the goal of growing in all aspects. In turn I use art as a means of communicating with others and navigating myself.
